====== Edge-2L install OS into eMMC via USB flash tool ======

===== Introduction =====

This document explains how to use the USB flash tool to install an OS image to the onboard eMMC storage of a Khadas Edge-2L SBC.

===== Install on Windows PC =====

==== Preparation ====

Download the following tools and extract them to a convenient location on your PC:

  * [[dl>products/edge-2l/tools/driver-assitant-v5.13.zip|driver-assitant-v5.13]]

==== Install USB drivers ====

  - Navigate to the extracted driver-assitant folder.
  - Run ''DriverInstall.exe''.
  - Double-click ''Uninstall'' to remove any previous drivers.
  - Double-click ''Install'' to install the necessary USB drivers.

==== Install the OS ====

  - Run ''RKDevTool.exe''.
  - Click ''Upgrade Firmware''->''Firmware'' and select your OS image file.
  - Connect the Edge-2L to your PC using a USB-C data cable. The board will power on automatically.
  - Put your Edge-2L board into [[products/sbc/edge-2l/install-os/boot-into-upgrade-mode|Upgrade Mode]].
  - Your PC should detect the board as a connected USB device.
  - Click the Upgrade button in the tool and wait for the process to complete.
